Cool your pictures with the touch of glass!
Happy Holidays... and I hope you are having some quality family moments during this special time of the year. This year I decided to try something different, I took some family photos and transferred the pictures on glass blocks 4" x 4", 1" thick. It makes for a really 'cool' effect, since there is so much depth to the pictures once you put them behind a deep glass block.
You can transfer on to any glass surface you choose and if your looking for a easy contemporary look I suggest the Tilano Glass Tiles.

We had a reprieve from the snow fall and we begin to see...
Sometimes Vancouver just delivers picture perfect days and today had it's moments. This is the view from one of my clients home I was working at, too pretty.
Of course I did have to dig my car out this morning, as long as I don't have to do that every morning the novelty is fun. Plus dealing with the roads makes for interesting commuting.

It's official Dec 21, WINTER is here!
Living on the west coast of Canada and having snow for Christmas is not that common despite the reputation for Canada ('the Great White North'), it is usually rain for this time of year.
But no one is complaining, at least not yet!
It was a beautiful day in Vancouver with snow falling all day long and still this evening. Looking at the weather reports it appears to be that way for much of northern half of North America.
Enjoy, get out and play! The festive season is upon us.
It really is starting to 'feel a lot like Christmas'.

I saw this interview on the Bramble Berry blog and thought it to be timely with the season and all.

Plenty of Passion
I recently finished working on the home of Olympic Champion Cammi Granato and her husband Ray Ferrero. They have been clients of my interior decorating business for several years. While I was working on the walls in the home with Marmorino plaster I thought about a creative recipe using the left over material, a photo transfer, a little grunge board from Tim Holtz and some colour glass tile samples I had kicking around.
Easy as 1,2,3
I asked Cammi to provide me with three photos of the Family and I would make an orginal/contemporary fresco tile. The best part, since I created the interior feel of the home I was able to pull those elements into the tile to create the trilogy. In the days to follow, I will share the process to creating these contemporary fresco tiles.

Things are looking up for transferring your baby photos this season!
Here is a quick gift fix for the last minute gift ideas, it's the Tilano Baby Marble Magnet Kit.
It's very much like the coaster kit from Tilano, but even smaller. These marble tiles are 2" x 2" square and come with powerful earth magnets for attaching on the back so you can place them on the fridge for all to enjoy!

Question: Do I have time still to make a Tilano Davinci Tile before Christmas?
Answers:
Of course there is still time to make a very thought filled gift. I have been receiving some calls about the how-to make our kits (which
always happens at this time of the year, "...got to get it done!"),
therefore I thought I should re post some of the videos to help you
out.
I know I can't speak to everyone and answer the questions
that arise along the way, but watching a video before you start your
kit,... it should help with some of the questions.

Burgoo is open for you...
Thank You!
I have to give some props to the Burgoo Bistro team since they were so kind to give to me, yesterday. They provided me with a bunch of gift cards for lunches, which I can now pass along the goodwill as 'thank you's' to my clients. Thank you Justin for the very kind gesture. ( see the movie here, p.s. look for my 12'x12" fresco tiles in the back ground, cool that they made the cut! )
I completed the 3rd restaurant on Main Street back in June and there has been no looking back, hour plus line ups!
Okay, yes I love my walls, I rub and rub and rub. The end result is a beautiful rustic Tadelakt wall that I create specifically for Burgoo. The wall finish reflects the mantra of the interior and food - warm and comfortable or as one of the owners Justin puts it "comfort food".
Stop by the new location on Main Street or the other two locatons in Vancouver while out doing your festive shopping this season and warm up to a bowl of fondue.

Canadian Scrapbooker just did a feature on Tilano in this months issue.
It always amazes me with the creativity from the scrapbooking community. Scrapbookers take Tilano out of the box and make super use of their talents to transfer photos for a variety of uses.
Check out the pages below, they are just a couple from the 5 page feature. Pick one up the next time your out to see all the creations.

That's a pretty grand statement, don't ya think!?
But maybe it is true? Tilano transfers are about making photo transfers at home with professional results. You can transfer onto just about anything basically... anything you can paint, you can transfer a photo onto it.
I have spent hours and hours on the web over the years looking to see what is better than Tilano photo transfers, searched on YouTube and have yet to see one that provides photo resolution transfers with ease every time. Best of all, time - the Tilano's process is fast compared to others.
I have just posted a new YouTube video showing the differences between the Tilano photo transfers and transferring with regular paper. Have a look and judge for yourself.

If You Do
Then here is one of the easiest ornaments you can create. Make your own family picture glass 2"x2" Tilano ornaments. My wife and I were opening up some boxes of decorations for the house and I came across this ornament we received as a gift from the Cerjacks, last year.
Funny, how others make or create something for you and it turns out to be what you had done the year before.
Since I gave the ornaments to my family 2 years ago. They make for a great little time capsule, reminding you of just how fast the year goes by!
Just transfer your image onto the back of the 2"x2" glass and your done. Piece of cake!
They look terrific next to the lights.

Stockings that can't WAIT!
Here is a super easy interactive Christmas tile.
Use one of the Tilano Chalk Blox and paint it with Tilano Chalkboard paint Oh La La Red , which just so happens to be just the right shade.
1.
Pick out some Christmas decals or stencils to help create the message. In this case, I used the QuicKutz Silhouette cutter to make my peel and stick stencils.
2. Again I use some Tilano Chalkpaint to accent the stencil, I used Confetti White this time.
3. Peel off the stencil and your ready to mount the hooks for the stockings.
4. I had some hooks left over from a previous project, thus I gave them new life with mounting onto the tile and your done!
5. Start the countdown with the kids and prep those stockings, because it's time to share in the anticipation!

Transfering onto a colour
I had great phone call yesterday from a Marguerite Brown, a customer in California asking about her idea, "What happens if I were to transfer onto a coloured back ground?" I told Marguerite, the image would take on the colour of the background making for an artist look, since the image would not be on a traditional white backing. Marguerite said "...that is what she was hoping for" and that "...she loved the transfers she had created for her daughter earlier this year."
The best part is that Marguerite is 91 years young! She told me she was making a gift for her son this time, who is 71. Therefore I had to ask her age. WOW, 91 and being creative. See it is never to late to making something great!
